He serves as Group Chairman of the Max Institute of Laparoscopic, Endoscopic, Bariatric and Gastrointestinal Surgery.
He has more than 45 years of surgical experience,
He completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Jabalpur, in 1973.
He completed his MS in General Surgery from the same institution in 1977.
He received the MNAMS qualification from the National Academy of Medical Sciences in 1979.
He is recognised for pioneering laparoscopic surgery, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy in North India.
He received the Padma Shri in 2002 for his contributions to medical science.
He has trained thousands of surgeons in laparoscopic, endoscopic and bariatric surgical techniques.
